It’s less crossfaded, more cut and splice, very New Yorky, possibly circa 1982. Very Big Apple Production volume 1. Could this be the original volume 1? I’ll take a guess it’s a Shep Pettibone creation. Tell me I’m wrong if you know better. Colin will know. Tracklist includes: Freeez I O U Hashim Al-Naayfish Miami Sound Machine Can You Feel The Beat and the very fine Baby Talk by Alisha.
CUT CHEMIST – LESSON 4 DOWNLOAD MP3Five and a half minutes. OK, we continue with this high quality classic from Lucas McFadden AKA Cut Chemist. He picks up the baton from Double D and Steinski and brings you a smooth selection of inspired breaks, expert sample overdubs and pin point turntablism. £300 seems to be the quoted value for an original vinyl copy, distinguished by the words “Hip hop smoothed out on the hip hop tip with a hip hop appeal to it” etched into the run-off groove. And I don’t have one. I got this version from the goldmine Scratchmasters Vol.3 CD, twelve sparkling tracks tracing the history of the scratch mastermix, a bit like this site. If you want the CD, get it from Amazon by clicking here, cos I get about 50p commision. Thank you, that will keep me in Butterscotch Angel Delight for another week. DJ Mayonnaise is a guy me and Waxfactor have known about for a long time, ever since we both grabbed his ?55 Stories? album (in both cases I suspect because of the 1200 Hobos seal of quality on the front) and totally freaked out over it. In short, it was more of the greatness you come to expect from 1200 Hobos affiliates like Mr Dibbs, Sixtoo, Marcus B, DJ Signify and more.
In addition to his album though, Mayonnaise cut some awesome mixtapes, and he?s now made one of them available to download on his website www.djmayonnaise.com. ?I?m Not A Turntablist, I Just Scratch A Lot? is from 1997, and while it wasn?t quite the trademark 1200 Hobo super-deep mix style (see also: Mr Dibbs ?Turntable Scientifics?, Signify?s ?Mixed Messages? and anything by Marcus B) it is still a tasty item; a scratch mixtape in the same style of the likes of (fellow Hobo) T-Rock or Faust. In short: classic stuff.
