Nach langer Zeit hat Colin Millar es endlich geschafft: Die erste EP seines Labels Hero No. 7 ist draußen! Schon seit Jahren spricht er davon und in seinen zahlreichen X-Sessions sind immer mal wieder selbstproduzierte Stücke aufgetaucht, aber bisher war Hero No. 7 nicht wirklich als Label präsent. Nun müssen die Platten nur noch nach Deutschland kommen. Sprecht einfach euren Plattendealer an und nennt ihm notfalls die Website des Labels. Ein Stück dieser EP leitet die heutige Sendung ein, und ihr erfahrt wie man zum Helden wird. Aber es soll nicht bei einem Helden bleiben – Wir sind Helden! – und neben Hero No. 7 tauchen auch die Helden No. 1 bis 6 auf – als da wären Coldcut, Roots Manuva, Depth Charge, Fat Freddy’s Drop, The Tape, Jay Haze, Lyrics Born und … waren das schon sechs?

YkYk004: Scaff – Knobs and Jacks

Scaff aka Meic Kluge has been loving to deal with regulators and knobs for 17 years.
After his origin in the Pre-Midi-Aeara he had been touring as one half of the minimal-techno act “Wellenreiter” through Germany during the mid of the 1990ies. Always in search of the perfect beat and a whole lot curiosity for innovations. Now he seems to have concluded it.
His love for patch calbles and his discontent with modern technics lead him back to the achievements of the 70ies and 80ies: analogous modular systems. Using them he produces fresh sounds bound into a modern context. His tracks are always unicums being generated live with no further editing. This form of production leads to unique landscapes of an ever modulating sound and beats that seem to want to wind into the ears of the listener.
The “Knobs and Jacks” e.p. is a snapshot of his studioworks.
