J Spookyʼs new project “The Secret Song” – isnʼt really an album: itʼs a manifesto about the place of history in our modern collaged, scrambled, sampla-delic to the core, mega info overloaded digital culture. With references stretching from Thorstein Veblenʼs “Theory of the Leisure Class” and John Maynard Keynes classic in the field of economics “The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money” over to hip hopʼs relationship to psychoanalysis and a la Edward Bernayʼs concept of the “manufacture of consent” – DJ Spookyʼs new album is a groundbreaking meditation on hip hop and electronic musics relationship to philosophy, economics, and the science of sound in a world where the steady drumbeat of the financial meltdown has made music the last refuge of young people with less and less time and money. DJ Spookyʼs peer group of artists like DJ Krush, DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, RJD2, DJ Logic, Amon Tobin, and Coldcut have all played with the idea of concept albums. With “The Secret Song” DJ Spooky looks to bands like Nine Inch Nails, and Radiohead for inspiration. As DJ Spooky likes to say “people – it’s ALL about economics.” Dig? …from djspooky.com
“Spooky
presents always something in his releases you cant imagine. He combines different sounds and vibes from different cultures around the world. Like no other dj in the world, he is really open to music at all !
He made the impossible things, possible. Spooky try to bring back a message into the music which is lost in most of todays releases.
He concentrate also on actual political conflicts and he try to spread information through this musical way. Not so many more djs today do something like this today .
Seems to be, he have a true mission like KLF and Coldcut and more have them ! > mix-tapes.de staff

Download a never-ending party to celebrate the 200th Mixotic release! This means: 200 tracks in 9 hours! Every track is a netlabel release from the year 2009. This session was recorded secretly during an excessive party night on planet Mixor. The DJ is a weird looking extraterrestrial, all we know about him is that he was active on Mixotic before while he was living on earth…
My new mix is finisehd. Took Tone Locs “Funky cold medina” and placed a number of various guitar riffs and some acapellas over it.
