Style: Dubstep / Grime Show: Every Thursday 8-10pm GMT Tales: Ruffage Sessions aims to showcase under-represented producers, forgotten classics and fresh tracks from across the whole spectrum of dubstep and grime. The show is presented by Ben UFO, Pangaea and Ramadanman, three students in Leeds; arguably dubstep’s second home. Ben UFO is a well respected DJ, whose mixes have received wide acclaim for their bold and often unexpected selection, as well as tight mixing. Both Pangaea and Ramadanman have been producing for several years, and have had considerable success with past vinyl and digital releases. Their tunes are played out regularly on both pirate and internet radio, and plans are in effect for future excursions on vinyl in 2007. All three play out at various venues across the country.

Änderung: Leider musste der bisher angekündigte Headliner Benga seinen Auftritt absagen! Als mehr als gleichwertigen Ersatz haben wir kurzfristig D1 verpflichtet.
Nach dem großen Erfolg der Session im Rahmen des Club Transmediale legt die Freak Camp Crew nach und holt mit Benga, N-Type, Subeena und Dot zwei tragende Säulen und zwei vielversprechende Newcomer der Londoner Dubstep-Szene in die Hauptstadt.
D1 gehört zusammen mit Skream und Benga zur jungen Generation von Produzenten, die den Sound des Londoner Untergrunds in den vergangenen Jahren revolutioniert haben. Als Sohn eines Jungle-Produzenten wurde ihm die Rave-Tradition quasi mit der DNS vererbt, als ausgebildeter Saxophonist sind ihm auch traditionelle Instrumente nicht fremd. Seine Musik vereint diese Einflüsse – schwere Beats und Bässe, sowie warme Melodien – zu einem unverwechselbaren eigenen Stil.
N-Type wurde im Dezember 2006 von der internationalen Dubstep-Community (www.dubstepforum.com) zum besten DJ des Jahres gewählt und zudem für seine Radiosendung auf dem Londoner Sender Rinse FM ausgezeichnet. Er stellt gerade den fünften Teil der Mix-CD-Serie „Dubstep Allstars“ zusammen.
Subeena und Dot sind zwei talentierte Produzentinnen und DJs mit italienischem, bzw. slowenischem Background, die seit einiger Zeit in London für Aufsehen sorgen. Bei der Freak Camp Session werden sie ihr unveröffentlichtes Material in einem gemeinsamen DJ-Set vorstellen.

Freak Camp Session returns with a big line-up featuring Croydon’s forward-thinking production wizard BENGA, multiple-award-winning turntable don N-TYPE and up-and-coming power units SUBEENA and DOT on the decks. VCF is located in the center of East Berlin (right beside Alexanderplatz) and has a 14 kw sound system.
D1 together withe the likes of Skream and Benga – is one of the young producers who have revolutionized the sound of the London underground in recent years. Born as the son of a jungle producer he literally inherited rave tradition in his DNA. As a talented saxophonist he also knows how to write a decent melody. By combining these influences he has a created a unique sound of his own.

Any regular listeners know how much we love Joe – as well as badgering him for instrumentals to use in mixes, we also featured his amazing “Indie Rock Blues” CD, a disc I’m still caning the crap out of these many months later. Für seine neue Produktion hat Amon Tobin seine früher gern geplünderte Schallplattensammlung einfach im Regal stehen gelassen, hat ein wenig Aufnahmeequipment eingepackt und damit unterwegs alles aufgezeichnet, was Töne und Geräusche von sich gibt. Hunde, ein CD-Presswerk, Tiger, eine Satellitenanlage, Aufziehspielzeug, Gitarren, Schlagwerk, Keyboards, Töpfe, Pfannen, Motorräder, und hundert andere Dinge.
Weitere Aufnahmen entstanden in sogenannten Foley Rooms, in welchen moderne Geräuschemacher die Sounds und Hintergrundgeräusche für Filme erzeugen, sowie mit dem Kronos Quartet und Stefan Schneider. Aus dem Vollen Schöpfen nennt man das, glaub ich. Die Musik ist trotz hohen Geräuschanteils äußerst melodisch und harmonisch, hat mal was von abstraktem Trip Hop und klingt dann wieder wie ein spannendes Hörstück.
